Poster & Awards
If you have an abstract accepted by the Conference, you might be invited to present a poster in one of the two poster-viewing sessions. Posters will be displayed in the Exhibition Area on Tuesday the 20th (Session A) and Thursday the 22th (Session B). The presenting author must be present during the scheduled Poster Sessions P-A (Tuesday) and P-B (Thursday). The dimensions of the poster should not exceed
90 cm wide x 120 cm high. Allocate the top of the poster for the title and authors as stated on the submitted abstract. The text, illustrations, etc., should be clear enough to be read from a distance of two meters (six feet). Tacks and technical equipment will be provided for affixing the posters. Please refer to the Final Program for the poster number assigned to you.
The Organizing Committee is pleased to announce awards for the two best posters presented at LACAME 2018. One of them will be to the best poster selected in each of the Poster Sessions. This award is intended for recognition of the outstanding presentation during LACAME 2018, for work in which the author has used Mössbauer Spectroscopy itself as a physical technique or any scientific argument based on the Mössbauer effect. A scientific jury, consisting of distinguished scientists, will select the winning posters. Members of the jury will look for significant advances in the scope of the scientific work. The scoring criteria for evaluating the posters will include originality, scientific approach, perspectives for technological uses, and presentation. The awards will be announced at the Closing Ceremony or at some other suitable time during the Conference. The posters will be published on the LACAME 2018 website.
Best Thesis Award
The Organizing Committee of LACAME 2018 is pleased to launch the Best Thesis Award. The best academic contribution by a graduate work performed in Latin American, which must be presented by the student during the meeting, will be selected to receive the Best Thesis Award at the Conference. The thesis must have been fully undertaken in a Latin American academic institution, although any work only partially performed outside Latin America can be taken into consideration, provided that the graduate student is formally linked to a Latin American institution. Students can be nominated to compete by their advisors, or they can be self-nominated. In any case, the competing thesis must be submitted to the Conference Office. The abstract of the competing thesis must be prepared in the same text format as that used for the Conference submissions. The deadline for the thesis submission is also the same as for other communications. The selection will be based on the scientific merits, significance of the use of the Mössbauer effect, and the quality of presentation. The evaluators, designated by the Organizing Committee, will take into consideration the following guidelines:
- • The clarity and conciseness of the statement of the objectives of the work
- • The clarity and conciseness of the statement of the approaches, procedures, and methods utilized to achieve these objectives
- • The significance of the findings, how they contribute to the state of the art and their applicability
- • Effective use of tables and figures
- • Clarity, organization, audio-visual quality, and timing
In addition, the evaluators might take into account the extent to which the Thesis is useful for the promotion of the Mössbauer effect, Mössbauer spectroscopy or both. The awards will be presented at the Closing Ceremony or at some other suitable occasion during the conference.
